Once you log in, your main navigation is over here on the right-hand side.
- My Profile - This is where you can keep everything up to date. To make changes, just click Edit in the section you want to update. When you’re done, click Save — your updates are applied automatically. You can edit things like:
-
-
Your location preferences
-
Your professional experience
-
Uploading a new resume
-
-
Profile visibility. We also added Profile Visibility settings, which gives you more control:
-
Hide Profile (Incognito Mode): Hiring managers won’t be able to view or find your profile — but you can still browse jobs, save roles, and mark jobs as applied.
-
-
If you ever need to, you can disable your Civic Match profile from here.
-
Deactivate Profile: Let us know when you’ve found employment, and you’re ready to disable your profile. Just select a reason and click save. You can reactivate your account at any time just by logging back in.
-
Dashboard (Home Page)
-
As a reminder: We encourage you to complete your profile in its entirety. Complete profiles helps hiring managers get a clearer picture of your experience and skills.
-
If any profile fiels are incomplete, you’ll see a reminder banner when you log in. NOTE: A resume is required to maintain an active profile on the platform.
Browse Jobs
Under Browse Jobs, you’ll see all current job postings from our state and local government partners.
You can search using keywords like:
-
A location
-
A role title
-
Or even something specific you want in the job description — like “mental health”
You can also filter by:
-
State
-
Experience level
-
Salary (new — annual, monthly, or hourly!)
-
Professional skills tags
-
These tags should look familiar — they match the same expertise areas you selected when creating your profile.
-
Review Jobs
Click into a role to read the full job description, requirements, and most importantly, how to apply.
Each role will include an Apply link or detailed instructions on how to apply. Applying happens outside Civic Match, usually on the employer’s website — and you must apply to be considered. Read the instructions closely, as some employers may have specific steps and eligibility criteria.
Save Jobs and Mark as Applied
Saving jobs and marking jobs as applied are two of the most impactful things you can do on Civic Match — it helps us help you by keeping hiring teams updated and improving how we surface strong candidate matches.
-
Save job
-
If a role appears interesting, save the role! It will appear in your Saved Jobs tab.
-
-
-
It adds the job to your Saved Jobs list, signals your interest to hiring managers, and helps our team highlight you more effectively
-
- Mark Applied
-
If you apply to a role on the external employer site, make sure you come back and click Mark Applied in Civic Match.
- It adds the job to your Applied list, signals your interest to hiring managers, and helps our team highlight you more effectively.
-
Save Searches when Browsing
We have added a Saved Searches feature.
-
If you’ve set filters or search criteria you want to reuse on your Browse Jobs tab, click Save Search.
-
Here, you can:
-
-
Give it a name (or leave it blank and we’ll name it for you) and it will save your search criteria to access again later.
-
Saved searches will appear in the Saved Searches tab. You can:
- See all of your saved searches in one place.
- Delete searches you are no longer interested in.
- Opt into receiving a jobs digest, so new roles matching your saved search will be delivered directly to your inbox. You can always opt out later.
-
Saved Jobs
In Saved Jobs, you’ll see a record of the roles you've saved. From here you can:
-
Mark the role as applied once you've submitted your application via this employer's job link
-
Unsave jobs you’re no longer interested in
-
Once you mark a role as applied, it’ll also appear under your Applied tab.
Applied
In your Applied tab, you can track which roles you’ve submitted applications for and monitor closing dates to estimate when you may expect to hear more about a role.
Invitations
In the Invitations tab, you’ll see a record of invitations you've received directly from hiring managers.
-
These invitations to apply also come to your email — so think of this as a backup inbox inside Civic Match.
-
An invitation is a strong signal that a hiring manager reviewed your information and thinks you could be a great fit
-
So make sure you review the role and apply if you're interested.
