Searching For Roles

Every week, state and local government partners post about a hundred new jobs to Civic Match. This guide explains how to best use the job board to find the right roles for you.

Here are some search filters that candidates like you find most helpful: 

  • Location (City, State): Find roles in specific cities and states across the country. Remember, every job on Civic Match is posted by a real hiring manager. That means we don’t always have every job in a specific region. But if you see a job on Civic Match, someone is actively recruiting.
  • Tags: Identify professional skills categories that best match your career expertise and experience. Select any that apply to help you find roles that align with your interests. Tags are manually applied by hiring managers or recruiters, so they may not align with your expectations. Play around to see what you find. 
  • Experience level: Employers decide what experience levels fit each job. Each employer's standards are a little different. Some include education and some don’t. It's a good idea to search across a wide range of experience levels—you might find some unexpected opportunities!
  • Salary/Minimum Pay: Enter a minimum amount and select a pay type to filter by compensation. Keep in mind that pay may be listed hourly, monthly, or annually depending on the role, and some postings may not include a pay rate at all—so don’t be too strict. Try a few different values and settings to see what comes up.

Save your search and get email updates

Once you’ve set filters that work for you, you can save your search to easily revisit it later—so you don’t have to rebuild your filters every time you visit the job board.

Steps

  1. Go to the Browse Jobs tab and apply your filters.
  2. Click Save This Search. 
  3. Name your search.
  4. Click Save This Search to confirm. 

Your saved search will now appear in the Saved Searches tab, where you can: 

  • View all roles that match your saved criteria. 
  • Opt in or out of email digests for new jobs that match your search.
  • Delete a saved search if your needs change at any time. 

Tips

  • Check the job board at least once a week for new roles.
  • Refine your search by combining filters to find the best opportunities.
    • If your results are limited, try removing filters to broaden your search. Remain flexible and open to exploring openings across multiple areas.
